Wastewater Systems that meet the challenges of the Poultry & Meat Processing Industries

It is common knowledge that poultry and meat processing plants are known for high water consumption.

Poultry processing consumes between 3 to 10 gallons of water per bird. For turkeys the usage is even higher. The water is typically contaminated with protein and carbohydrates from meat, fat, blood, skin and feathers. FRC’s Adriaan van der Beek explains, “We understand the challenge of treating poultry and meat processing wastewater and the major pollutants such as Fats Oils & Greases (FOG), Suspended Solids (TSS), COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) probably better than any-one in the industry”. In addition to the standard contamination there is a trend for improved phosphorus removal”.

Our Customized Systems

Our approach to wastewater treatment is custom tailored for each client, incorporating technologies that meet each plant’s unique treatment challenges and offer the re-use of both water and the by-products generated. FRC is a major DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) supplier in the World, a technology that provides excellent and reliable performance at a low or no chemical cost. We can also include complete SCADA packages in the wastewater treatment systems and adapt their control system approach to make use of the client’s standard PLC, HMI and control products.
